Welcome to DayByDay Book Club!
Welcome to the DayByDay book club 📚
I’m Riona, and I’ll be hosting our book club. I come from a background in education where I taught music, drama and English, so storytelling has always been a big part of my life. But more than that, books became something I leaned on heavily when my chronic illness was at its lowest.
They gave me somewhere else to go when I needed it most, a bit of escape, a bit of comfort, and sometimes just something to get me through the day. That’s the heart of this space.
This is going to be a fully accessible, low-pressure book club.
Join in your pyjamas.
Have your camera on or off.
Chat loads, drop a few messages, react with emojis, or just sit and listen quietly.
There is no “right” way to be here. Whatever works for you is more than enough.
Each month, we’ll choose a book together. You can recommend anything you’d love to read, I’ll pull together a shortlist, and then we’ll vote as a group.
Once we’ve picked a book, you’ll have the month to read it in whatever way suits you.
No pressure to finish.
No pressure to keep up.
No guilt if life or illness gets in the way.
Whether you read one page or the whole book, you’re still part of this.
All formats are completely welcome, audiobooks, Kindle, physical copies, whatever is most accessible for you.
This is something you can dip in and out of depending on your energy and interest. If one month’s book isn’t for you, skip it and come back for the next one. No pressure, no expectations.
This isn’t about reading the “right” books or analysing things perfectly. It’s about connection, curiosity, escapism, and having something gentle and enjoyable to be part of.
If you’ve been wanting to get back into reading, or you already love books and want to share that with others, or you just need a little space to escape into stories, you’re so welcome here 🤍
I’d love to hear your recommendations to get us started, so please share any books you think we should read!
